EDT: Bethesda has finally confirmed why Fallout 4 mods haven't arrived on PlayStation 4, and the developer is saying that it's Sony's fault. Among the possible reasons are the hacking concerns. However, Bethesda did not elaborate what aspect of the mod was not approved by Sony.Īccording to speculations, there may be a couple of reasons behind the mod cancellation. This explains that Sony and Bethesda may have not agreed on the standard of the mods that would work for both the console and the game.
Part of it states, "Sony has informed us they will not approve user mods the way they should work: where users can do anything they want for either Fallout 4 or Skyrim Special Edition." He explained, "Lots of things can follow under the umbrella of 'mods' but are very different technically and in scope/scale."īethesda previously released a statement on its blog that talks about its decision to cancel mods for PS4.
In a series of tweet responses by Hines to fan inquiries, he emphasized that "Fallout 4" should not be compared to another game regarding the mod support because different games have different contents that can be changed and replaced. Other hit games from other game developers and publishers have already announced support for PS4 mods, except Bethesda's "Fallout 4" and another hit title "Skyrim Remastered." Although Bethesda's marketing vice president Pete Hines has explained the reason behind the cancellation of mods for PS4, a lot of gamers are still hoping that it will be made available soon.
